UTHCITY INFO:
Over the last 18 months, Ruff & Ruby, in conjunction with the Stoke-on-Trent Youth Collective, has endeavoured to birth purpose-driven projects, to engage & elevate the lives of young people across Stoke-on-Trent. These are projects designed by young people, for young people.
We are all aware that in our country, there is a 'SCREEN-DEMIC' with young people spending a minimum of 8 hours of screen time a day on mobile phones & scrolling through social media. It is well noted the impact that this has on young people's mental health, self-value & mindset. Therefore, Ruff & Ruby's creative department along with local company BWAR, as a team, working with young people, we decided to create a counter-culture offer in the digital space to resource, support, educate, signpost to support services, infuse positivity & give an intentional opportunity to shine & be heard without the likes & dislikes feature of most social media. This, coupled with a growing need for young people, particularly in disadvantage, to have access to information, services, activities, support & youth provision, resulted in a SHAPE YOUR GEN youth voice consultation taking place out of which UTH CITY, one-stop-shop was born.

DUEDILIGENCE
Uth City is a free digital HOME that young people can use directly to access expert-reviewed information & signposting, which has been worked on in liaison with the local authority, NHS, Staffs Police, local mental health services, & members of the Stoke-on-Trent Youth Collective network, who have due diligence in place, as part of their membership, as well as proven public services that are on offer to young people across the city. The app includes a unique suicide prevention button, also signed off by local NHS & mental health services, providing instant access & support for those who need it most. The app also includes expert-reviewed UK-wide mental health apps under the 'check yourself before you wreck yourself' section, to provide wrap-around support for positive wellbeing.

Uth City is a valuable resource, not only for young people, but also for those who support young people, including parents/carers, schools, colleges, youth workers, health professionals, parents, & community organisations. It makes it easy for both young people and their support networks to find safe, reliable information, mental health support & suicide button all in one place.

Uth City needs your support to help this valuable tool reach the young people who need it most. Here’s how you can get involved:
📱 Download the Uth City soundtrack "Light in Dark Mode" by Antidote. (view their socials here) on all major streaming platforms.
📱 Encourage young people to download the app from the App Store/Play Store. It’s simple to use and helps them quickly find the support that’s right for them.
📱 SIGN IN so they can input their 5 'safe peeps', in case they ever need to use the service when asking for help, or pressing the 'I am suicidal' button.
📱 Spread the word by sharing our pre-made social media posts, & use the hashtag "#UTHCITY"
📱 Put up posters and leaflets in schools, youth centres, and health settings.
📱 Add information to newsletters and websites to guide young people and their families to the app.
